Super soaker drives homeowners out

Heavy rains continued overnight and into the morning are making the morning drive very slow.

Some schools closed Tuesday, primarily in the South County area. As were various Catholic schools and some Massachusetts schools.

Authorities said about 100 people have been evacuated from their homes in Cranston because of heavy rain and worries that flooding could leave them without an escape route.

The National Weather Service said residents of the Valley View neighborhood near the Pawtuxet River were told to leave Monday night.

A bridge in the area has been closed since it was damaged in storms earlier this month. Mayor Allan Fung said he was concerned residents could be trapped without that exit route.
